Daytona Beach police say a police car got torched in Sunday’s early hours. One thing that didn’t burn, police say, was a note referencing the Black Lives Matter movement, the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police and declaring “FUCK The POLICE!!!” The “ghost car,” with understated police logos, sat in front of the Islamic Center of Daytona Beach. The fire was set around 2:25 a.m. Sunday.
(Would a group leave an incriminating note? If the car burned, why didn’t the note burn? Is the implied connection, by location, between terrorism associated with Islam and the protests by the Black Lives Matter movement, a stretch?)
