The New York Times obtained video of Chase Sherman, 32, being repeatedly stunned with a Taser gun by sheriff’s deputies while he was handcuffed in the back of a car.

Take careful note how at the end the conversation and perspective changes to the officer’s conduct–where he is given assurances by an officer not on the scene, before any review had been done, that the officer involved was “fine,” after he said he was “fucking fired, man” since the subject had stopped breathing. This is conspiracy. It is an agreement, statement and gesture–independent of training, facts, and policy–to engage a prima facie cover up of any negligence or criminal conduct. The officers demonstrate no concern for the suspect or family, only the self-interest of an officer who was clearly out of control. (/wr)
