Obama Urges Raised Voices in Cuba’s Hushed Discussions of Race – The New York Times


In a speech in Havana, the president noted America’s and Cuba’s similar struggles with racism, spotlighting an issue the Cuban government says is settled.

“We want our engagement to help lift up Cubans who are of African descent,” he said, “who have proven there’s nothing they cannot achieve when given the chance.”
